Compact SUVs like the 2025 GMC Terrain and the 2025 Chevy Equinox have advantages like eco-friendly fuel economy and spacious cargo room. Compare these highly capable small SUVs to find the perfect model for your lifestyle.

The GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox are both powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder motor. The GMC Terrain FWD output is 175 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, with the AWD model boosting the torque output to 203 lb-ft. The Equinox offers the same powertrain output.

In terms of trailering ability, the GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox are also similar. When the SUVs are outfitted with a front-wheel driveline, they can tow up to 800 lbs, which is ideal for flat-towing recreational vehicles like motorcycles and ATVs. On the Terrain, opting for an all-wheel drivetrain increases the towing capacity to 1,500 lbs, or the equivalent of modest boats, campers, and trailers.

Exterior Features

The GMC Terrain comes with a manual liftgate, LED headlights, and IntelliBeam, an automated high-beam headlight control system to switch off brights when oncoming traffic is detected. The Terrain can be upgraded with an AutoSense power liftgate for automated liftgate access when the proximity key fob is sensed near the rear bumper.

The entry-level Chevy Equinox has many of the same standard features, such as heated, power-adjustable side mirrors to prevent snow, fog, and ice from sticking to the outside mirrors in the winter. The GMC Terrain also has heated exterior mirrors, but drivers can benefit from a manual folding feature to protect from damage on the trail or while parking near a wall.

Interior Features

The Terrain comes with the Driver Convenience Package as part of the standard equipment. Features like a remote start engine, heated front-row seats, a heated steering wheel, express windows, and illuminated vanity mirrors meet your day-to-day needs with an emphasis on comfort. This SUV also has a single-zone climate control system and a 15-inch infotainment system with Google Built-in compatibility.

The Equinox has standard features like active noise cancellation technology, which uses the six-speaker audio system to cancel out road noise, and an 11-inch Driver Information Center. This model also has a smaller 11.3-inch central touchscreen than the GMC Terrain.

The GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox are similar SUVs in terms of performance and convenience features, although the GMC Terrain is ideal for heavy-duty or off-road driving. Ask about current GMC specials when you call Dutch Miller’s Beckley Automall in Beckley, WV.
