Performance
Both the Sierras 2500 and 3500 come with a 6.6L V8 gas engine that yields 401 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 464 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. For enhanced performance, there’s an available 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine that generates 470 horsepower at 2800 rpm and 975 lb.-ft. of torque at 1600 rpm. These engines are paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission that includes Tow/Haul drive mode and auto-grade braking.
Towing is a breeze in either of the new Sierra HD pickups, which both come with a complete GMC Trailering Package that includes a hitch, hitch platform, connectors, Hitch Guidance, and more. When you opt for the 6.6L Duramax engine, you can reach a maximum towing capacity of 21,870 pounds in 2500 and 36,000 pounds in the 3500.
Exterior
Trucks in the Sierra HD lineup are built with convenient exterior features that can increase your productivity and make any task easier. This includes the Corner Step rear bumper, which has hollow spaces located at each corner for you to insert your foot when climbing up to the cargo box. Other work-friendly exterior elements include the cab-mounted cargo area lamps and twelve fixed cargo tie-downs that are rated at 500 pounds per corner.
Interior
Seating in the Sierra HD 2500 or 3500 includes two full bench seats, accommodating up to six passengers. The front bench is a 40/20/40 split that has a built-in storage compartment beneath the cushions. The rear bench is a 60/40 split that can be lifted on one or both sides to create a cargo room on the floor.
Interior features in the 2025 Sierra HD include a 7-inch GMC Infotainment system with smartphone integration, a 6-speaker audio system, USB charging ports, and a 3.5-inch driver information center.
